all quiet on the frontal lobe
lately there have been lots of omens in my life. here are some i've noticed
Ephesians & Paul
gillmore girls
October clappening
i don't really believe in omens but after reading the alchemist i think i atleast will entertain them. i say this because sometimes a few phrases, moments, content, etc, could be whatever, spam my life. Lately its been the 3 things mentioned above. everywhere i look or anything i read or listen to has these 3 things. the young man says to not ignore the omens as they are the universe giving you what you ask for.
on mornings when i can, i like to start by reading the bible at a local coffee shop before work. i find my day goes smoother, that i try and apply something i've read that day. sometimes its just what i needed to read for that day based on how i'm feeling. the letters that Paul wrote are ones i've been studying and gravitating towards because they're so dense in theology but also practicality. I think this last year or 2 i've felt more like Job than Paul but perhaps his teachings are most helpful being on the other side of a big life change. coincidence perhaps or an omen that everything i've listened to whether it be a religious podcast or not is specifically mentioning or focusing on some part of Ephesians. even in conversation with people somehow Ephesians gets brought up. I'll take it as a sign that perhaps some answers are still stuck in those chapters and that i'm on the right reading at this moment.
gillmore girls is a weird one. idk if its the fall timing or what but again somehow that show gets brought up either in conversation or in the content i'm consuming. i think i know what the omen is hinting at. this was a show my son's mom watched. i enjoyed it myself. the nostalgia of it. the analog of it. maybe i should rewatch it.
lastly October. i really like October because of the coming of fall, the color change, the crispness of the brisk mornings. my son also enjoys it so much. however October and i always have a big reset. I remember in college we got evicted from my place and had to find a new place to rent mid school year. i also got speeding tickets, got a bike stolen. when it rains it pours in October. Last October wasn't so fun either, probably the worst one of my life so far. countless other Octobers where something negative happens. its like the year's most troubling moments culminate into that month. you'd think i'd be scared of it or have some ptsd but every year i pay no matter to it and just take what comes. i know there's going to be a hardship in October. will this year be different?
the title of this post is all quiet on the frontal lobe because thats a state i want to be in. i'm a thinker, i think and think and think, and write and read. even these omens that i ruminate and try to map out what they mean. i think i need to lean the other way and not think and just do.
i think in a sense i've been applying that to my life. with the changes to my physical life, my spiritual life, my relationship with my son. its been less thinking and more doing.. more living.
i'm definitely in a better spot than last October. i'd tell that Obed that everything would be okay.
i have a marathon on Sunday! if i would have told 2025 Obed that idk if id believe it. lots of other blessings God has provided. most importantly of which is peace.
lastly i'll share this scripture which again was an omen i think from Corinthians this time but again from Paul given i'm about to race on Sunday...
**24 **Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. **25 **Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. **26 **Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. **27 **No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
- 1 Corinthians 9:24-27.
